If you travel beyond Fenchurch Street you have two options:
Purchase a Season Ticket which includes Underground Zones, or
.
Purchase a c2c only Season Ticket and use Oyster Pay-As-You-Go (previously
known as Pre-Pay) for your Underground Journeys.
Depending on your circumstances the second option might be cheaper. Here are the
facts
Oyster single fare for Zone 1 is £1.50, so thats £3 return each working day;
Typical working year is 228 days (261 weekdays, minus 8 bank hols & 25 days
leave)
228 days at £3 per day is £684 (add £3 for each extra day you work)
The price of a c2c only Season Ticket (to Fenchurch Street) plus the extra
£684 works out cheaper, by £116, than a Season Ticket with all Underground
zones.
(The equivalent savings against (say) 11 Monthlies is £160, or 47 Weeklies is
£256!)
The savings described above only apply if you use the tube only twice a day (to
work/from work).
If you use the tube/buses more often, read below:
FROM TILBURY TOWN, GRAYS, PURFLEET, CHAFFORD, OCKENDON:
c2c-only Annual season to Limehouse costs £1,400
Annual Zones 1-2 Travelcard (purchased at Limehouse, Tower Hill, etc.) costs
£888
Total cost £2288, i.e. £52 cheaper than the (Z.1-6) Travelcard from these
stations.
FROM EAST TILBURY, STANFORD-LE-HOPE:
c2c-only Annual season to Rainham costs £1,008
Annual Zones 1-6 Travelcard (purchase at Rainham, Tower Hill, etc.) is £1640
Total £2,648, which is £40 cheaper than the Travelcard from these stations.
