Yobs lock in 30 at station - The Sun - Sat Feb 26th

QUOTE

Frantic commuters were forced to clamber across rails after a gang of thugs locked them in at an unattended train station.

The yobs used their own padlock to secure a side gate exit and trap more than 30 passengers on a platform in Laindon, Essex at 10.10pm.

One commuter climbed a gate whilst around 20 crossed the track, which was not live. The others, including a mum with a child and buggy, were rescued by workmen who heard their cries.

Rail company c2c - which runs the Fenchurch Street to Southend line - said the gang had returned after a bust-up with station staff earlier in the evening. the firm said it would now make sure the gate remained open.
